INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A dangerous stretch of Emerson Avenue in Beech Grove will receive safety improvements, thanks to funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The $17 million grant, awarded through the USDOT’s Safe Streets and Roads for All program, will be used to boost safety for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users along Emerson Avenue between Victory Drive and Main Street.

Between 2018 and 2022, one fatal crash and 32 serious injury crashes occurred along this stretch of road.
