Mamdani allies win at least 2 Democratic primaries in New York as they confront establishment

NEW YORK (AP) — New York Assemblymember Micah Lasher has won the Democratic nomination for a seat being vacated by his former boss, retiring U.S. Rep. Jerry Nadler.

Lasher won a primary battle Tuesday for a House seat in the center of Manhattan, one of the country’s richest and most Democratic strongholds. The 44-year-old Lasher was seen as an establishment favorite and had previously worked for Nadler and other New York politicians including Gov. Kathy Hochul and former Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Lasher had faced a crowded field that included Jack Schlossberg, the 33-year-old grandson of the late President John F. Kennedy, and Alex Bores, whose proposals to regulate artificial intelligence triggered tech industry blowback, as well as Trump critic George Conway.
