Man, 20, injured in Oceanside shooting

A 20-year-old man was injured in a shooting in Oceanside Monday night, police said.

Officers contacted the victim shortly before 7 p.m. at Oceanside High School, where the victim had driven himself following the shooting, police said. He was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was expected to survive.

The victim told police that the shooting may have occurred near the beach, police said. Using surveillance cameras, officers located the scene at Neptune Way and Cleveland Street, a few blocks from the beach, where a spent 9mm shell casing was found, police said.

A Glock 17 handgun and several types of ammunition were found in the victim’s vehicle, police said.

No motive or suspect information was publicly provided, and the shooting remained under investigation, police said.
