KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) — A 61-year-old man from Russiaville, Indiana, was arrested for drug possession after a traffic stop in Howard County on Saturday.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m. Saturday, an Indiana State Police trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2022 Dodge Ram on County Road 100 South near Rollingstone Road in Kokomo, Indiana. During the traffic stop, the trooper identified the driver as William Douglas Whitman Jr., 61, of Russiaville.
Whitman had active warrants out of Howard County and was taken into custody. The trooper utilized his K-9 partner Mack, who alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. Suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located. Whitman was transported to the Howard County Jail.
Further investigation led to the issuance and execution of a search warrant at Whitman’s residence. This search resulted in findings of suspected marijuana and additional suspected methamphetamine weighing 70 grams.
The suspected narcotics will be sent to the Indiana State Police Laboratory for an exact determination of the substance.
Whitman was arrested and preliminarily charged with four counts of dealing in methamphetamine, two counts of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
