Man sentenced to 38 years for brutal killing of mother Aurora, IL A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to 38 years in prison after pleading guilty to the first-degree murder of his mother. Abel Quinones-Herstad stabbed 55-year-old Edith Gonzalez-Alarcon 26 times on July 14, 2022. After the attack, he allegedly concealed her body in a closet and hid the weapon under a rug in the living room. Quinones-Herstad then fled to Wisconsin where he informed his brother of the crime.
