Motorcyclist, 23, killed in San Marcos crash

A 23-year-old motorcyclist from Escondido died after colliding with a sedan in east San Marcos, a sheriff’s sergeant said Wednesday.

The crash happened about 5:25 p.m. on Montiel Road, roughly a half-mile east of Nordahl Avenue and just north of state Route 78, Sgt. Jeremy Collis said.

The collision involved a white Nissan Altima sedan and a Kawasaki ZX-10R motorcycle, Collis said.

Deputies arrived to find the motorcyclist unresponsive. Deputies and paramedics administered life-saving measures, but the rider, Mason William Boulais, died at the scene, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Collis said the Nissan driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with deputies. Deputies with the San Marcos sheriff’s station are investigating the collision.
