NWS confirms Linton tornado

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — At least two tornadoes touched down in Indiana on Sunday, the National Weather Service has confirmed.

The agency said Monday that an EF1 tornado with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph touched down in the town of Linton at 7:18 p.m. It was on the ground for about two minutes and traveled for just over 1 mile, cutting right through town.

No serious injuries were reported, but trees, power lines, and buildings were damaged.

On Tuesday, the NWS office in Paducah confirmed an EF1 tornado in southern Gibson County.

The tornado began about 5 miles west of Haubstadt along State Road 68 at 2:36 p.m. EST/1:36 p.m. CST. It traveled nearly due east for about 5 miles, ending on the southeastern edge of town.
