Navy fighter pilot from Mooresville to be in Super Bowl flyover

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (WISH) — A Mooresville native with Navy fighter squadron will be one of the four members of the Air Force conducting a unified flyover during the 2026 Super Bowl national anthem performance.

Cmdr. Mike Jennings will take flight Feb. 8 above Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Jennings joined the Navy 19 years ago.

“Being able to be part of such a momentous event representing the Navy is an amazing responsibility. “The chance for my children to see what I do on TV is a rare opportunity and something I think will be a great memory for myself, my wife and my two boys,” Jennings said in a news release issued Tuesday from Ashley Craig of the Navy Office of Community Outreach. Jennings said in a release.

Jennings attended Mooresville High School and graduated in 2002. He earned a bachelor’s degree in aviation technology-flight from Purdue University in 2006.

The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Mooresville, Jennings said in the release. “I was from a small town growing up, so we had to search for opportunities. I believe growing up there taught me how to be ambitious, search for those opportunities, and the work ethic to enable that.”
