New law mandates local governments to address housing barriers

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Governor Mike Braun ceremoniously signed a law on Monday that he says aims at increasing housing production.

He says the law requires local governments to evaluate barriers to new housing and report progress.

The law requires every city, town, and county to hold a public hearing this year on how to expand the housing supply.

Brain says affordability is the mission and getting affordable housing is central to that goal.
