North Vernon man drowns in Crosley Lake, investigation ongoing

NORTH VERNON, Ind. (WISH) — A 20-year-old man’s body was recovered from Crosley Lake in Jennings County late Thursday night.

Police say preliminary investigation shows at approximately 9 p.m Friday, Christopher Allman of North Vernon, was attempting to back a pickup truck down the boat ramp at Crosley Lake.

While he was doing so, the pickup entered the water and traveled approximately 100 feet from the ramp.

Allman and a passenger exited the cab and attempted to swim back to shore.

The passenger made it back to shore safely, but Allman went under the water and did not resurface.

Indiana Conservation Officers recovered Allman’s body just after 1 a.m. and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
