NEW YORK, N.Y. – The New York City Police Department is searching for a suspect accused of slashing a man aboard a subway train at the 14 Street–Union Square station in Manhattan, an incident that underscores ongoing concerns about rider safety in the transit system.

The assault occurred Friday, April 3, at approximately 2:40 p.m. within the confines of the NYPD’s 13th Precinct and Transit District 4. According to NYPD Crimestoppers, a 26-year-old male victim was riding a southbound 4 train when he became involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified individual that escalated into violence.
