CORDYDON, Ind. (WISH) — A police cruiser hit a pedestrian Sunday night in a southern Indiana town, Indiana State Police said in a news release issued Monday afternoon.
Jay Williams, 45, was taken to University of Louisville Health hospital with serious injuries after the collision in Corydon. The town of 3,100 residents is about a half-hour drive west of downtown Louisville, Kentucky.
Sgt. Glen Crawford of the Corydon Police Department, who was on duty, drove the cruiser into Williams just before 11 p.m. Sunday on Corydon Ramsey Road near Skyway Drive. Investigators think Williams was walking southbound along the fog line — the solid white line on the right edge of a road — of the southbound lane when he was struck from behind by the cruiser.
State Police have called on an investigator to reconstruct the crash, the release said.
