Person dies in crash near El Cajon

One person died Wednesday when a pickup truck crashed in an East County intersection.

The fatal crash occurred at Greenfield Drive and La Cresta Road in the unincorporated Granite Hills area near El Cajon shortly before 3 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim wound up trapped inside the damaged vehicle and died at the scene, the CHP reported.
