Person injured in Indianapolis stabbing; police detain another person

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A person was stabbed and another person was detained after a stabbing Wednesday afternoon on the east side of Indianapolis, police said.

The person stabbed was stable, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in an email to News 8.

Medics and police officers were called just before 4 p.m. to the 2400 block of North Parker Avenue, and they found a person with injuries consistent with trauma.

The incident was initially reported as an incomplete 911 call before being upgraded to a stabbing while officers were on the way to the scene.

Public Information Officer Drew Brown wrote, “A person has been detained. Their involvement, if any, will be determined as the investigation progresses.”

The department noted that the investigation remains in its early stages and the information provided is preliminary. No public information officer responded to the scene.

No information was provided on what may have led to the stabbing, or the names of the person injured and the person detained.
