Plainfield adopts master plan for 2,000-acre Echo Hollow Nature Park

PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — The Town of Plainfield Town Council adopted the Echo Hollow Nature Park Master Plan at Monday’s Council meeting which will create a park with 2,000 acres of town-owned land.

The newly adopted plan provides a blueprint for a phased development. The Town worked alongside planning consultant Butler, Fairman & Seufert, Inc. and research partner Keen Independent Research to evaluate potential features, scale, and operational models.

Those plans include:

  • A nature center.
  • A lodge or inn.
  • A campground.
  • An event center.

The Echo Hollow Nature Park name ties to the area’s importance as a habitat for the federally endangered Indiana bat. Located south of Interstate 70 in Guilford Township, the park will include 1,928 acres, including land acquired from the Indianapolis International Airport in 2018 as part of a effort to establish a public nature park.
