INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis police on Monday afternoon found several people tied up in a jewelry store where robbers had taken more than $2 million in cash, jewelry and precious metals at gunpoint, leading to a police chase into Boone and Clinton counties.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was called at 12:55 p.m. Monday to a robbery in progress at the store in the 4900 block of South Emerson Avenue.
An online search lists King Jewelers in Emerson Place Shoppes as the only jewelry store in that block.
No one was hurt, police said in a Monday afternoon news release.
Witnesses gave police descriptions of the suspects and the robbers’ getaway car. Officers broadcast that information to other agencies, including the Indiana State Police.
Minutes later, state troopers used license plate cameras to find the car near Lebanon in Boone County. The driver fled when troopers tried to pull the car over, starting a chase through several counties. Police eventually stopped the car in Clinton County using a specialized driving maneuver.
