Police find man shot dead in Jeep on east side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man was found shot dead Thursday afternoon inside a black Jeep parked on the street of a neighborhood on the Indianapolis east side, police said.

Medics and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to a report of a death investigation and a person shot just before 4:05 p.m. Thursday in the 3600 block of Decamp Drive. That’s in the North Eastwood housing addition southwest of the intersection of East 38th Street and North Post Road.

Authorities did not immediately share the name of the man found dead.

Family of the man had gathered at the scene, News 8’s Cat Sandoval reported.

Investigators were unsure of the cause of death, and did not immediately know if the shooting was a homicide or a suicide.

No additional information was immediately available.
