Police investigating two separate shootings in Vista Saturday night

VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Two men were taken to the hospital after separate back-to-back shootings Saturday night in northern San Diego County, the sheriff's department reports.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department responded to the first shooting at 8:35 p.m. in the 300 block of S Santa Fe in Vista. Witnesses told deputies the shooting happened at a lowrider event.

According to the sheriff's department, a man was shot in the stomach and taken to a local hospital. The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

In another shooting at 9:06 p.m. Saturday at Mimosa Ave and Smilax Road near SR-78 in Vista, a man was shot in the chest and taken to the hospital.

The sheriff's department told FOX 5/KUSI there are no suspects in custody at this time, and the condition of either victim is currently unknown. No other information was immediately available.
