LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) — The Lafayette Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a person of interest in a shooting and child abduction incident from early Monday morning.

According to a release on the incident, arrived at the Overlook Pointe apartment complex off State Road 52 and Elston Road around 8:45 a.m. to investigate a shooting involving two men.

Upon arrival, they found a 39-year-old victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Medics rushed the man to a hospital, where police say he is in critical condition.

The department says during the incident, a suspect fled with a 7-year-old child.
