Prison changes called for at the Capitol

A year after the February 2025 Wildcat strike, New York correctional facilities still face continued difficulties. With more than 5,000 National Guard members still in state prisons to assist staffing shortages, many came to Albany on Monday to attest to the prison system's damaging effects on both correction officers and those who are incarcerated.
