INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Month of May is coming up fast, and so is one of the year’s fastest events for young runners: the 2026 500 Festival Rookie Run.
Registration is now open for the annual event, scheduled for Saturday, May 9, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in downtown Indianapolis.
The Rookie Run, held during JPMorganChase Kids’ Day, is a fun introduction to running for children ages 3-10 and uses a special course designed just for them.
This non-competitive event has all the features of a real event environment, complete with a start and finish line, cheering spectators, and plenty of encouragement along the course. Every child who completes the run receives a finisher medal, along with snacks and water, to celebrate their accomplishment.

How to Sign Up
Online registration is available through May 6 at 500festival.com/rookie for $10. The fee includes a commemorative shirt, a bib, a goodie bag, and a finisher medal.
