Reward offered after knife-wielding man chases after kids in Valley Center

Sheriff’s officials are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly chased two kids with a knife and slashed their vehicle’s tires near a Valley Center pond late last year.

The incident occurred when the man reportedly confronted the two minors who were at a pond near the intersection of Valley Center Road and Irish Oaks Road around 4:30 p.m. Nov. 5, said Detective Billy Tennison.

The man identified himself to the victims under the fake name of “Hector Zeroni,” a character from Louis Sacher’s novel “Holes.”
