THIS AFTERNOON

This is the period to watch most closely. A very humid and unstable atmosphere is in place across central Indiana, and storms moving southeast through the region have already been capable of producing damaging wind gusts around 60 to 70 mph, quarter-size hail, torrential rain, and localized flash flooding. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for much of central Indiana through late afternoon, and parts of the Indianapolis metro have already been under severe thunderstorm warnings this afternoon.
