Shooting incident under investigation after boy hurt in Indianapolis

Juvenile shot on E. 43rd St., believed to be self-inflicted

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An investigation is underway after a boy was injured in a shooting on the Indianapolis northeast side Tuesday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m., Indiana Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a person shot in the 3300 block of East 43rd Street, right off Millersville Road and 42nd Street.

Police say this is believed to be accidental and self-inflicted; however, that has not been confirmed.

When officers arrived to the scene, the boy was awake and breathing and was taken to a nearby hospital.

IMPD has not provided any additional information about the shooting, including the boy’s age.
