From reality TV to politics!
Spencer Pratt is running for mayor of Los Angeles — and a source tells In Touch that he’s “convinced he’s got a real shot” at winning the election.
“Spencer has always been fascinated by politics and he absolutely loves having a soapbox so this pivot into politics makes perfect sense,” the source says of The Hills alum, 42, who graduated from USC with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
“He’s convinced he’s got a real shot and loves to compare his situation, coming from reality TV fame, to the way Donald Trump got his start,” the source adds. “The way Spencer sees it, if Donald can become president, then surely he can make it to Washington too.”
While Pratt’s mayoral campaign has got the more established Hollywood types rolling their eyes, reveals the source, it’s done nothing to dissuade him from running for office.
“He says it’s actually good for him because it just gets more people talking about him. He doesn’t care at all if the establishment likes him,” the source reveals. “In fact, he’s more than happy if he’s seen as an outlier because to him, that’s the type of person that succeeds in politics these days.”
