State Energy Plan: Grid expansion necessary for chip factories, AI data centers

New York State officials will vote on December 16 to adopt a 15-year State Energy Plan that balances climate goals with the state's need for power, adding 35 gigawatts of solar power, 9 gigawatts of offshore wind, and 9 gigawatts of energy storage to the grid, while reducing gas use by up to 19% by 2040.
