Preventing heat-related illnesses
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The extreme heat in central Indiana isn’t safe for anyone. WISH-TV’s Medical Expert Dr. Janel Gordon joined News 8 on Monday to provide tips on how to stay safe and prevent heat illness.
Dr. Jordon says children, especially infants, are at a high risk of heat illness. The elderly, outdoor workers, and athletes are also at high risk.
Signs and symptoms of heat illness:
- Muscle cramps.
- Headache.
- Fatigue.
- Nausea.
- Vomiting.
- Rapid weak pulse.
