Street, sidewalk projects set for 8 sites in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Democratic Mayor Joe Hogsett and the Indianapolis Department of Public Works announced eight street and sidewalk projects Tuesday afternoon at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The projects selected for the 2026 Indianapolis Neighborhood Infrastructure Partnership represent a more than $2 million investment. The partnership is part of the city government’s Community Powered Infrastructure program. Public Works believes the program helps tax dollars go further by launching developments that might not happen through standard capital projects.

Since the program began in 2018, the city has invested more than $16 million in 75 projects across Marion County. Construction on the 2026 projects could start this year.

The projects selected for 2026 include:

  • Georgetown Road in the town of Speedway: New sidewalks, resurfaced pavement and upgraded signals between 25th and 30th streets.
  • Global Preparatory Academy: A new midblock crosswalk at 25th Street and Winthrop Avenue.
