Use of GLP-1 medications in early pregnancy
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A recent study from researchers at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health analyzed over 3,500 insurance records of women who were taking a GLP-1 medication prior to conception, including over 40% of women with diabetes.
When comparing women who continued taking one of the medications into the first trimester versus those who stopped, the difference in miscarriages was not statistically significant. Additionally, the medications did not seem to significantly increase the risk for low or high birth weight or birth defects.
