San Diego County is home to a variety of endangered species, including the California Least Tern, Mountain Yellow-Legged Frog, San Diego Fairy Shrimp, California Ridgway's Rail, Pacific Pocket Mouse, Gray Wolf, Blue Whale, Torrey Pines, and Quino Checkerspot Butterfly, all of which are being protected by various conservation organizations.
