WASHINGTON (WISH) — Officials on Monday unveiled the race track design for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C.
As previously reported on WISHTV.com, the IndyCar Series auto race will be on the National Mall on Aug. 22-23 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The racing circuit features a 1.7-mile, seven-turn layout with includes a 0.4-mile frontstretch along Pennsylvania Avenue, framed by the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol. Drivers will race past the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art, and the National Archives.
The official event logo was also revealed, featuring an IndyCar positioned in front of the U.S. Capitol dome in a red, white and blue palette.
