Trooper’s report reveals what led to Officer Brian Elliott’s fatal shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indiana State Police investigator’s report released Tuesday revealed the mayhem that led up to the fatal shooting of Officer Brian Elliott and the injury of another police officer from the same Marion County police department.

He was fatally shot Monday afternoon while responding to a violent domestic call involving Kenneth T. Johnson and his girlfriend, an Indiana State Police trooper’s report to Marion Superior Court 20 revealed Tuesday.

Elliott, 33, a member of the Beech Grove Police Department since September 2024, died at Eskenazi Hospital, the department’s chief announced just before 9:30 p.m. Monday.

The other police officer, who has not been identified, was shot in the leg, the court report said. That officer was released from the hospital on Tuesday, authorities said.
