
Wildlife rescue unfolds on New Jersey highway
Union Township, NJ — A small bear cub spotted alone along a busy stretch of Interstate 78 was safely rescued by state troopers after being found in a roadside ditch.
The incident occurred Wednesday at approximately 1:37 p.m. near milepost 12.2 on I-78 East, where troopers responded to reports of the animal.
Upon arrival, troopers located the cub by itself and determined it needed assistance. The animal was secured and transported to a nearby station.
Officials said the cub was later turned over to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for care.
