Utility watchdog bill vetoed

Governor Kathy Hochul vetoed a bill that would have created an independent State Office of the Utility Consumer Advocate, citing budgetary concerns and duplication of existing state agencies, despite supporters arguing that it would have provided much-needed representation for residential customers in legal proceedings against utilities.
