After years of rumors, delays and Disney repeatedly hitting pause, Tangled is officially getting the live-action treatment — and fans finally know who will be stepping into Rapunzel’s tower.
Disney confirmed on January 8 that Australian actress Teagan Croft has been cast as Rapunzel in the upcoming live-action remake, opposite Zombies star Milo Manheim, who will play Flynn Rider. Croft, 21, and Manheim, 24, were announced via Instagram, with the studio sharing headshots of the new leading duo.
Croft reacted with excitement in the comments, writing, “OMGGG WHO ARE THEYYYY,” while Manheim referenced the film’s iconic soundtrack, commenting, “I have seen the light,” alongside a lizard emoji — a nod to Rapunzel’s beloved companion, Pascal.
The live-action Tangled will be directed by Michael Gracey, best known for helming The Greatest Showman. While the rest of the cast has yet to be announced, the project marks Disney’s latest reimagining of its animated classics, following upcoming releases like Snow White and Moana.
