NEW YORK (PIX11) --- After a mild and seasonable day on Monday, snow and cold temperatures take over the workweek in the New York City area.
There will be early sunshine early followed by increasing clouds in the afternoon with temperatures that will be well above average. The high will be 49 in the city, upper 40s to low 50s in the suburbs. High pressure will move offshore into the Atlantic as a storm system will approach the area from the west.
Tuesday will be cloudy with rain and snow as low pressure moves through the area. A winter storm warning is in effect tonight into tomorrow for the Hudson Valley and western New Jersey.
A winter storm watch is in effect for the city and Long Island. The temperatures will be much colder with a high of 39 in the city, and mid to upper 30s in the suburbs.
Wednesday will be partly sunny and blustery as the storm moves away and high pressure will work its way in from the west. The high will be 34 in the city, low to mid-30s in the suburbs.
Thursday will be cloudy with a chance of rain and snow late as a front will move through the region. The high will be 40 in the city, upper 30s to low 40s in the suburbs.
