INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 21-year-old woman is behind bars after Indianapolis police say she shot and injured someone during an incident on Indy’s near east side.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened around 10 a.m. Saturday in the 3600 block of Dequincy Street. That’s near the intersection of 38th Street and Emerson Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a victim suffering gunshot wounds. IMPD reported their condition as “awake and breathing.”
Shortly after, IMPD officers detained Chakira Matlock, 21, at the scene. She was later arrested on a preliminary charge of aggravated battery resulting in serious permanent disfigurement.
As of Monday morning, Matlock was listed as an inmate in the Marion County jail, and was being held without bond.
She’s due in court for a hearing Tuesdya morning.
