Woman dies after being struck by vehicle in Chula Vista

A woman died after she was struck by a vehicle in Chula Vista on Thursday evening, police said.

The collision happened just before 6 p.m. on Moss Street west of 5th Avenue, Chula Vista police said in a news release.

Officers arrived at the site and found a pedestrian “severely injured and unresponsive in the roadway,” the department said. Police and paramedics rendered aid and she was taken to a trauma center, where she later died.

Her name was not released, but police said she was a Chula Vista resident in her late 50s.

The driver stayed at the collision site and cooperated with officers. “At this time, drugs and alcohol are not considered a factor,” the department said.
