Driver at large after fatal hit-and-run
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis police were searching Friday morning for the driver in a fatal hit-and-run on the city’s southwest side.
Just before 12:30 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a report of a person struck at South Girls School Road and Rockville Road. That’s just west of the I-65/U.S. 36 interchange.
Officers arrived and found an unresponsive woman near the roadway at 500 S. Girls School Rd., just south of the intersection.
The woman was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but did not survive.
Investigators believe the woman was walking northbound on the east side of South Girls School Road when she was hit by an SUV travelling in the same direction.
