INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis police say they are investigating the death of a woman found lying in the backyard of a southwest side home as a homicide.

Online police reports show Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 1300 block of South Lynhurst Drive between West Morris Street and Plainfield Avenue for a death investigation around 11 p.m. Tuesday.

There, they found the woman suffering from trauma injuries. Medics arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene.

Coroners identified the woman Wednesday morning as 51-year-old Kimberly Stewart.

IMPD says a person was detained at the scene but later released.

No arrests have been made so far.
