New York, NY — Police are searching for a woman accused of striking a 23-year-old commuter in the face with a cellphone during a dispute inside one of Manhattan’s busiest transit hubs Friday morning.
The incident happened at approximately 8:20 a.m. Friday inside the 59 Street–Lexington Avenue subway station, within the confines of the NYPD’s 17th Precinct and Transit District 4. According to NYPD Crime Stoppers, the assault followed a verbal confrontation between the victim and an unidentified individual.
Dispute Turned Physical Underground
Investigators said the encounter escalated from an argument into a physical altercation inside the station.
During the confrontation, the unidentified suspect allegedly struck the 23-year-old woman in the face with a cellphone. Police have not released information about the victim’s injuries or whether she required medical treatment.
