A woman who is suspected of playing a role in a fatal shooting in Oceanside three years ago was arrested in Tijuana and returned to the U.S., authorities said.
Aarin “Angel” Sorenson, 50, is among four people charged in connection with the death of Jacob Sanders, who was found dead in the San Luis Rey riverbed near Benet Road and Highway 76 on Dec. 26, 2022. She was the only one who had not been arrested.
Sorenson was booked into Las Colinas Detention Facility on Thursday and remains jailed without bail, jail records indicate.
Baja California officials said they arrested on Tuesday a woman they identified partially as Aarin Marie, a 50-year-old Canadian citizen. The last names of people arrested in Mexico are typically not released publicly until their cases have been resolved. Officials said in a press release that she was “a fugitive who entered Mexican territory to evade justice in the United States.”
The woman reportedly was in possession of methamphetamine when state police arrested her.
U.S. Marshals officials said in a news release that Mexican authorities transferred Sorenson into their custody at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.
