Zayn Malik Opens Up About Dating Gigi Hadid: ‘I Don’t Know if I Was Ever in Love With Her’

Zayn Malik is reflecting on his past relationships.

The former One Direction member got candid about his love life during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, released Wednesday, February 11. In the interview, host Alex Cooper referenced a comment Malik previously made on The Zach Sang Show in May 2024, when he admitted, “I don’t know if I’ve actually truly been in love at this point,” and asked if he still stood by it.

“Yeah. My understanding of love is always developing,” Malik responded, according to People. “At that moment in time, I might have thought it was love, but as I got older, I realized maybe it wasn’t. Maybe it was lust. Maybe it was this, maybe it was that. I don’t feel like it was love.”

He then addressed his six-year relationship with supermodel Gigi Hadid, with whom he shares daughter, Kaia, 5.
