WENTZVILLE, Mo. – Members of the Wentzville Fire Protection District were back on the scene of an early morning fire at a mobile home park off Lucille Street to put out hotspots kicked up by Monday afternoon winds.

Firefighters first responded to a 911 call after 12:45 a.m. They heard an explosion shortly after arriving at the scene.

“Passerby called 9111 and said there was smoke and flames visible. Led us to believe there was someone still trapped inside. Anytime we have someone inside, the crews do everything they can to save them,” Chief Steve Mosher, Wentzville Fire Protection District, said. “In this case here, they tried a couple of different ways to fight their way through the flames to get into the patient. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the outcome we wanted, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.”
