12-mile detour to resume for project in Somerset County

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is warning drivers a detour will be back in place for a project on Route 3001 (Fort Hill Road) starting on Wednesday.

On July 31, crews will put the 12-mile detour back in place. As during the previous phase of the project, it will include Route 281 (Kingwood Road), Route 3047 (Hogback Road), Route 523 (Listonburg Road) and Route 3001 (Fort Hill Road).

The detour is tentatively scheduled to end on August 23 but will be utilized during later phases of the project into 2025.

The work scheduled for this phase of the project includes the replacement of three box culverts and one pipe, along with minor roadway work, drainage, and guide rail updates.

The overall project is a multi-year, $2,566,000 effort to replace three bridges and a culvert along Route 3001 (Fort Hill Road).
