STURGIS, S.D. (KELO) -- DUIs at the 2024 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally have reached 100 as the fifth rally report comes from the South Dakota Dept. of Public Safety (DPS).
The DPS releases a Sturgis Rally Tally – a 24-hour (6 a.m. to 6 a.m.) recap for crashes, DUI arrests, drug arrests, citations and warnings for both Sturgis and the Rapid City district.
Note: Rally Tally numbers from DPS do not include data from the Rally’s official opening day Friday, Aug. 2.
In addition to the rise in DUIs, there were more than 40 drug arrests in the 24-hours since the last report.
Throughout the rally so far DUIs have climbed to 100, while misdemeanor and felony drug arrests have grown to 198 and 116, respectively.
