4 men sought fro allegedly beating, robbing NYC taxi driver

CHELSEA, Manhattan (PIX11) --- Police are searching for four men who allegedly beat and robbed a taxi driver in Chelsea earlier this month, police said Monday.

The group surrounded the driver, 59, while he was stopped at a red light near West 27th Street and Seventh Avenue just before midnight on July 18, according to the NYPD. The suspects allegedly began kicking the taxi before one of the men opened the driver's door and repeatedly punched him in the face, police said.

The man also took the driver's cellphone before he and his accomplices rode off on bikes, police said. There have been no arrests.

The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
