TIMES SQUARE, Manhattan (PIX11) – At least five people, including three children, were pepper sprayed in Times Square on Wednesday, according to the NYPD.
A 31-year-old woman, a 9-year-old boy, a 6-year-old girl and a 4-year-old girl were all pepper sprayed in front of 1515 Broadway around 9:30 p.m., per police. A 38-year-old woman was also pepper sprayed in front of 1515 7th Ave. around 10 p.m., according to authorities.
It's believed the pepper spray attacks took place amid a tribute event featuring a former Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson, with pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian protests happening at the same time.
At least six people were arrested during the protests, according to authorities. Five people were charged and one person was issued a summons.
It's not known if a suspect was arrested in connection to the pepper spray attacks.
