5-year-old dies in Springdale after being hit by car

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) --- The Springdale Police Department said that a 5-year-old boy has died after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday night.

Officers said they responded to a call around 9:17 p.m. after receiving reports of the incident.

Police say that a boy ran after a dog into the road when he was struck by a vehicle going northbound on Grainger Circle. The child died on the scene.

Officials said that the driver did not show signs of impairment and has not been charged at this time.
