73-year-old killed in crash on Hwy 191

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- The Midland Police Department is investigating a crash that left one person dead Friday morning. 

According to the MPD, on July 12, officers responded to a crash in the 8700 block of State Highway 191; there emergency personnel had to extract the driver of a Chevrolet Cruz, identified as 73-year-old Tommy Earl Palmer. Although EMS attempted life saving measures, Palmer was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

“Upon initial investigation by the Midland Police Traffic unit, it was determined based on witness’s that for some unknown reason Palmer stopped in the westbound roadway in the 8700 block of State Highway 191,” MPD reported. “The driver and sole occupant of the Peterbilt cement truck collided his front distributer with the Chevy Cruz’s back distributed at a high rate of speed.”

The investigation is still on going.
